    The follwing is an update on the Low Emissions Vehicle Toll Incentive (LEVTI) Scheme

    New Applicants

    • Why did the LEVTI scheme stop accepting applications if the program ends in Dec 2023?
      • Introduced in 2018, the tolling scheme has been administrated by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) on behalf of Department of Transport. Originally scheduled to close in 2022, LEVTI was extended until December 31st, 2023, and available for the first 50,000 eligible vehicles. With the target on track, new applications will no longer be accepted from 1st November 2023.  
    • If membership goes under 50,000 LEVs, is the scheme open to accepting new applications?

With the target on track, new applications will no longer be accepted from 1st November. The scheme will not re-open for new applicants.  
    • Why is the scheme not continuing in 2024?
      • The Department of Transport have advised that government investment for electric vehicles will continue to rebalance towards supporting EV charging infrastructure. This change aligns with similar polices in European nations, where countries including Norway, Germany and France have begun to curb vehicle subsidies and government investment in EVs is moving towards infrastructure.

    • How will this affect me? What does it mean to me?
      • The Department of Transport have advised that the ‘Low Emissions Vehicle Toll Incentive (LEVTI) Scheme’ will conclude on the 31st of December 2023. As an LEVTI customer, you will not receive toll incentives/refunds beyond this date.  
    • How long will the refunds/incentives be applied?
      • The Department of Transport have advised that the ‘Low Emissions Vehicle Toll Incentive (LEVTI) Scheme’ will conclude on the 31st of December 2023. As an LEVTI customer, you will not receive toll incentives/refunds beyond this date. 
    • I bought this car, based on the scheme, what do I do now?
      • The Department of Transport have advised that government investment for electric vehicles will continue to rebalance towards supporting EV charging infrastructure. This change aligns with similar polices in European nations, where countries including Norway, Germany and France have begun to curb vehicle subsidies and government investment in EVs is moving towards infrastructure.
    • Why are there no incentives for decarbonization, electric cars/What about the climate action plan
      • The Department of Transport have advised that government investment for electric vehicles will continue to rebalance towards supporting EV charging infrastructure. This change aligns with similar polices in European nations, where countries including Norway, Germany and France have begun to curb vehicle subsidies and government investment in EVs is moving towards infrastructure.
    • If I travel in Dec, when will I see my refund? 
      • Your TSP will process your incentives/refunds based on their current processes and timelines for trips that occur up to Dec 31st, 2023.  The Department of Transport have advised that the ‘Low Emissions Vehicle Toll Incentive (LEVTI) Scheme’ will conclude on the 31st of December 2023. As an LEVTI customer, you will not receive toll incentives/refunds beyond this date.

    “We at Limerick Tunnel are really delighted that the board of Limerick Tunnel have agreed to support Linda and her team at St. Munchin’s Community Centre in Limerick.

    We were so inspired at Linda’s passion to enhance social support in the community and her ongoing energy to increase the provision of Meals on Wheels services during this Covid 19 period from 120 meals to over 400 meals per day.

    This wonderful organization has the support of so many in Limerick, and we welcome the opportunity to assist with their services at this critical time”.
